What does It’s Easy Being Green do?

We are a community climate education and personal action group on the Upper Westside of Manhattan. We also publish a monthly newsletters and action blast, hold speaker events and partner with other neighborhood  groups on environmental advocacy.

Reducing single use plastics in local markets and restaurants, encouraging participation in and advocacy for NYC’s compost program, incentivizing local businesses to adopt green business practice, increasing awareness of simple changes members of our community can make to live lighter on the planet

Sharon Waskow

Sharon Waskow has over 30 years experience as an educator of elementary, secondary and adult learners. She holds a B.A. in English, an M.S. in Reading and an MLS in school librarianship. She volunteers for her block association and leads a history book group for Bloomingdale Aging in Place. She has taught teachers how to create project based curriculum on climate and spearheaded a school and community wide effort to call attention to the environmental threats to coral reefs. Together, students, teachers,staff and community members crocheted a large model of a coral reef showing various stages of decay. The exhibit, housed in a glass vitrine, served as a teaching tool for many years. She currently co-leads It’s Easy Being Green, a neighborhood climate education and personal action group on the Upper Westside of Manhattan. You can reach her at itseasybeinggreen.uws@gmail.com

Christine Campbell

Christine Campbell is a retired science educator and life-long environmentalist. She holds a B.A. in Science, an M.A. in Health Administration and an M.A. in Education. In her last teaching position she was responsible for developing the Advanced Placement Environmental course which she continued to teach until she retired. She currently volunteers teaching English as a second language and also runs a Science Reading group for a local senior organization. Christine loves to travel, cook and draw.
